April is Youth Month at Gibsons Yacht Club
The 2012 Learn to Sail registration is almost full. Only 6 places left as of April 1st. and we expect these to go quickly. If it is your intention to registar, don't delay.
Our new Youth Director,Tonya StMarie called the first meeting of the newly formed youth group recently, and we have 19 new junior members. All graduates or instructors of the LTS programme can apply for a youth membership in the GYC. The group outlined it's plans for weekend sailing and there was a strong interest in racing. As one young lady said, "lets go and kick some butt" at area races. Keelboat crewing,windsurfing and kayaking were all topics that will be investigated.
Once again the popular Opti Sailing Course (16th-20th July) is returning to Gibsons this summer. Designed as an entry level day camp for 5-8 year olds, it is run by BC Sailng. Details and registration can be accessed at www.moss.bcsailing.bc.ca There are only 16 places left on this programme.
